Mike Mika is a senior associate in our litigation team. He specialises in family, immigration, and sports law.

A graduate of Otago University, Mike joined the firm in 2003 after a distinguished rugby career. From 1992 to 1999 he played NPC for Otago and Southland, Super 12, and Test rugby (Manu Samoa). He went to the 1995 and 1999 Rugby World Cups.

Mike is a member of the Crown Prosection team and appears regularly  for the Crown  in jury trials.  He also represents  government agencies including the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Health and Immigration New Zealand.
 
Mike  is experienced in family matters including Separation and Care and contact of children.  He also represents Child, Youth and Family Services on occasion .
 
Mike's other areas of practice are Immigration and Sports Law.  In relation to Immigration Law, Mike deals mainly with temporary permits/visas e.g. Work/Student permits/visas and Residency applications.  Mike's main interest in Sports Law is in relation to Rugby contracts.  He has advised a number of professional and semi-professional players in terms of their contracts.  He also has dealings with Rugby agents both in New Zealand and overseas.
