Michael Morris is an Associate in our litigation team. Michael’s particular expertise is in family law and resource management. 

Based in our Queenstown office, Michael provides legal assistance (including legal aid) to our clients in the Queenstown, Central Otago and Southland areas.
 
Family Law
 
Michael regularly appears in the Family Court on all family related matters. These include issues relating to care of children, domestic violence and protection orders, paternity issues, guardianship issues and relationship property disputes.
 
Environment Law
 
Working in the Queenstown office Michael assists Russell Ibbotson on numerous environmental and resource management issues, including applications for resource consent and the resulting hearings as well as appeals to the Environment Court.
 
A special area of expertise for Michael is appearing in the Environment Court for dairy farmers in relation to Regional Council prosecutions relating to effluent discharges and other consent breaches.
 
Litigation
 
As a member of the litigation team, Michael assists our Invercargill office in a wide range of litigation matters including civil disputes as well as appearing in the Queenstown District Court on Crown prosecutions.
 
Michael graduated from Otago University with a double degree (LLB , BA Hons (History & Classical Studies)) and is a member of the New Zealand Law Society Family Law Section, an Associate Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute and a member of the Resource Management Law Association.
